Right off the kitchen, this breezeway now serves a new purpose — a custom-built homework station for a family of five.

With four kids in high school and college, this family needed a designated zone for studying, charging devices, and staying organized. We designed a functional workspace using drawer bases and a custom-fit, hand-stained butcher block top — blending utility with warmth and character.

This project is a perfect example of how we tailor each design to the rhythms of family life. With our in-house general contractor, we’re able to transform underused spaces into purposeful, beautiful extensions of the home — even in ways clients may not have imagined possible.

Almost complete, just needs some final styling! Two front parlors, each transformed with purpose. One now serves as a piano room filled with music and gathering. The other, a long-awaited office designed to provide focus and function.

But as the project began, they quickly realized the value of having professional expertise to guide the details and ensure every element came together seamlessly.

That’s where our team stepped in—providing selections, samples, and of course the installation professionals and the implementation support to bring clarity, cohesion, and confidence to the process. This project is a great reminder that design expertise isn’t only for full-scale renovations. The reassurance of a designer’s eye is the key to a thoughtfully transformed space!

Our clients have a beautiful space for family time and hosting, but it lacked the inviting flow that encourages people to linger.

She didn’t want to change the layout, but she was ready for a refresh: a clean, timeless look in a neutral palette that would serve her family well. And with graduations, jobs, and family moving in and out, we had to get it done quickly—our team was up for the challenge.

The result is a guest-worthy space that’s equally suited for the family's everyday use. Soft neutral wallpaper brings subtle charm, while the dark wood vanity adds warmth and depth. Together, they strike the perfect balance between beauty and function.

If you’ve followed along with the transformation of this dining room and office (plus the entryway and front entrance), you’ve seen how we’ve worked to cultivate a space that highlights the elegant, sculptural, and truly personal pieces our client has always loved. From the candle holders on the sideboard to the organic ceramics on display, the design centered around shape and form in a way that feels intentional and elevated. We kept that sculptural thread going by selecting a lighting fixture that echoes those same curves and dimension—and added box trim to the walls to heighten the overall sense of elegance.

The rich blue palette paired with deep-toned wood gives the space an almost regal feel—like something you might find in a timeless European setting. But what made this project especially meaningful were the pieces our client asked to repurpose. The desk and dining room table have been with her through so many seasons of life and moves—each piece holding stories and memories she wanted to preserve.

That history became part of the design itself. Just like in European homes, where heirlooms passed down through generations are proudly displayed to reflect family heritage, this space tells a story of where our client has been—and where she’s going.
